DIY 13 Best Female Icons Halloween Costumes

After watching Wonder Women, I knew I wanted to do a female icon series for Halloween! πŸ™‚ SoΒ I have dressed up as 13 of the best and most fun female icons, rated them from easiest to most difficult to create (1-4), and explained how I made each of them so you can recreate the looks if you’d like. Hopefully I give you some great ideas! πŸ˜‰

Let me know which one you like the most, and if you have any suggestions for me to do next year! (Spoiler: Rustin and I will probably do a couples series next year! πŸ˜‰ )

(3-Fairly Difficult) Oh gosh this one was so fun to do! I wore a $3 skater dress from H&M, turned it backwards and cut out the tags so it would be lower in the front. πŸ˜‰ I wore a string of pearls, painted my nails red, added a mole on my cheek with eyeliner, and wore a fluffy white coat to add glamour and heat (cuz I’m always cold πŸ˜‰ )! The reason this one was sort of difficult is because it took about 30 minutes to do this to my long blonde hair. (If you have dark hair, go for the wig! πŸ˜‰ )The way I did it was by taking about an inch of hair, winding it around my finger, and bobby pinning it up. Lots of bobby pins and hairspray for this look, but totally worth it. πŸ™‚

(2-Fairly Easy) For this look, I put on nude colored tights (a Queen Bey fave), a black leotard, and black heels. I also had to wear a brunette wig ($9 from Wal-Mart) but that was super easy! To get that tiny waist and fuller hips look, I tied a mini scarf around my middle (underneath the leotard) and clinched it tight! Be careful not to do it too tight though or it will hurt (duh haha). πŸ™‚

(1-Very Easy) I put on a black sports bra, black spanks, and some workout cloves (if you’ve got the real fighting gloves, that’s even cooler)! I cut out the letters “UFC” from white cardstock and taped it on the sports bra with fabric tape so it wouldn’t fall off as I moved around. I put a ponytail low in my hair so my shorter layers up top would fall out and make my hair look shorter from the front. Super easy and it was a hit! πŸ™‚

(2-Fairly Easy) All black–leggings, sweatshirt or long sleeve top, and combat boots. I put my hair into a tight braid and wound up the ends so it would look shorter. I used my brother’s real bow-and-arrow (with the tips off of the arrows) for this shot, but I only took the stripped arrows with me (fastened with a leather belt to my back) when I went around because the bow was so heavy (and maybe illegal haha πŸ˜‰ ). A toy bow and arrow set would be great too. πŸ™‚

(2-Fairly Easy) I already had everything I needed for this look: cowboy boots, short denim cutoffs, a vest (or you could use a flannel), and a cowboy hat. Vwahlah! Hair in piggy tails for the cuteness of it and you’re set! πŸ™‚

(2-Fairly Easy) I wore a black dress, long black gloves ($3 from Wal-Mart), my hair in a top knot with bangs out and swooped to the side, a bling-y bracelet bobby pinned in my hair because I didn’t have a tiara, and lots of pearls (even over top of the gloves). This was pretty simple, and I felt very elegant when I wore it to my friend’s Halloween get together. πŸ™‚

(1-Very Easy) Similar to Katniss, I wore black legging, black heels, and a black bodysuit. The only thing you’ll probably have to get for this one is the cat mask which I got for $10 at Toys-R-Us as I shopped for my little siblings christmas presents (I start getting stuff early πŸ˜‰ ). But I’m sure you can get a mask like it anywhere that sells costumes! πŸ™‚

(4-Difficult) This was the most difficult costume because of the make-up. I actually got the new Mummy on Redox and was so inspired by Sofia’s make-up, that I knew I wanted this to be my first look of the season! I used Urban Decay eyeliner for my eyes and my “tattoos.” For those “tattoos” I just drew teeny little random symbols in a straight line from my lower lip to my belly button. I got the wig for $10 at Taylor Maid. The clothes were just strips of material I draped around me. I wore a bikini top and spanks and pined the material all around till I was happy with how it looked. πŸ™‚ So fun to do!

(1-Very Easy) Okay, this one was a very fun–not very serious–female icon. πŸ˜‰ I used the cleopatra wig for this one and just took out the gold pieces. After that, it’s cake. Pink shirt, orange shorts, yellow socks, white tennis shoes, and a purple backpack. So easy, fast, and fun! πŸ™‚

(4-Difficult) This one was hard to achieve because I had to find a fluffy yellow dress from the thrift store. But find it I did. The dress I found was only pale yellow and huge on me, but I saturated that sucker, pinned it and it turned out pretty cool. πŸ™‚ I also wore that same brunette wig ($9 from Wal-Mart) and put a yellow ribbon around a bun I created in the back. πŸ™‚ Children stared and it was great! πŸ™‚

(3-Fairly Difficult) For this look, I wore a red kimono I already had and taped gold tape down the front of the kimono and around my wrists and ankles. I slicked my hair down behind my ears and bobby-pinned it. And I played with a snake arm bracelet. πŸ™‚ It was pretty easy for me, but I don’t know if I’m weird for already having this red kimono haha! πŸ™‚

(3-Fairly Difficult) Like I did for the Cleopatra outfit, I draped material around me. For the top, I actually wound the material around a necklace around my neck (you can also use a ribbon). I got this dragon from Wal-Mart for $9. I braided the sides of my hair and left the rest down and wavy.

(4-Difficult) Oh boy this one was a blast! This was actually part of my couples costume with Rustin (he was a vey handsome Thor πŸ˜‰ ) when we went to a party together. I made this whole thing because I thought is would be fun–it was…haha…but boy was it harder than I thought. I actually don’t know how to use a sewing machine (so undomestic–oh well haha) so this is hot glue, safety pins, and a whole lotta prayers that it wouldn’t fall apart as we played murder in the dark! πŸ˜‰ Haha but it was fun to do and fun to be! πŸ™‚

I had a great time this Halloween season! Let me know what you think! Girl power! πŸ˜‰
